Sustainable experiences as easy as counting to 10!
“Sustainability” may sound abstract and overused. Here are ten ways I make sure every tour respects Venice, its people, and its future.

10 Ways to Be a Sustainable deTourist

Small is beautiful — I only lead private or small-group tours.

Smart timing — Whenever possible, I schedule experiences on weekdays and outside bank holidays, helping to reduce overcrowding.

Step off the beaten path — Exploring beyond the crowds helps protect fragile hotspots.

Walk, pedal, or paddle — Tours use eco-friendly transport: walking, public water buses, bikes, or kayaks.

No commissions — I support artisans, family-run shops, and locals without taking cuts or kickbacks.

Authentic food & drink — We stop only in places that use local ingredients and respect Venetian traditions.

Respect sacred & cultural spaces — I follow and explain site-specific rules, ensuring responsible visits.

EnjoyRespectVenezia — I actively support and promote the City of Venice campaign “Enjoy Respect Venezia”, encouraging visitors to adopt responsible and respectful behavior.

Give back & stay compliant — Part of my revenue supports cultural and social initiatives, and I operate 100% legally as a licensed guide under Italian tourism law.

Leave no trace — I encourage visitors to travel light on Venice: no litter, no damage, no clichés. And whenever possible, consider low-impact ways of reaching the city, like arriving by train instead of flying.
Choosing deTourist means choosing a slower, more mindful way of discovering Venice. Together, we can protect the city’s fragile beauty — while still experiencing it at its most authentic and inspiring.
