Description

Let’s go island hopping by bike along the Venetian lagoon, from the elegant Lido to the colorful fishing villages of Pellestrina and beyond.

Our adventure begins on Lido, where you’ll cycle past Belle Époque hotels, golden beaches, and markets where locals sip Prosecco. We’ll ride through Malamocco — a quiet, pastel-colored village that feels like a miniature Venice — then continue through a nature reserve to a scenic lighthouse. If you like, we can stop at Alberoni beach for a relaxing swim or a refreshing drink.

A short ferry ride takes us to Pellestrina, a long, narrow island where time seems to stand still. We’ll pedal through charming fishing hamlets strung along the waterfront, with their colorful houses and boats bobbing in the canals.

The route can extend all the way to Chioggia — often called “Little Venice” — a bustling fishing town full of life and local flavor.

From there, you can choose whether to ride back the same way or return to Lido by ferry via the mainland, enjoying unforgettable views of Venice from the water as we sail past St. Mark’s Square.

This private tour is flexible and can be customized based on your interests and stamina. It’s perfect for travelers who want to explore authentic, off-the-beaten-path Venice — by bike.

Itinerary

Meeting Point – Lido Santa Maria Elisabetta
We’ll meet at Santa Maria Elisabetta on Lido Island, where your bike will be ready and waiting. You can choose the style you prefer — from city bikes to e-bikes or even tandems — and enjoy a relaxed start to your island adventure.

Hotel Ausonia & Hungaria
Our first stop is this iconic 1913 hotel, known for its vibrant Art Nouveau ceramic façade — a perfect symbol of the Lido’s glamorous past.

Venice Film Festival and Hotel Excelsior
We’ll pass the Palazzo del Cinema and the historic Hotel Excelsior, where the Venice Film Festival — the oldest in the world — brings red carpets, stars, and stories every year in late summer.

Grand Hotel des Bains
Although no longer operating, this legendary hotel inspired Thomas Mann’s Death in Venice and hosted iconic artists like Diaghilev and Visconti. Its elegant façade still evokes a golden era of travel.

Malamocco
We’ll bike through this charming fishing village with its narrow alleys, canals, and Gothic palazzo — a quiet, colorful version of Venice, far from the crowds.

Alberoni beach
At the southern tip of the island lies Alberoni Beach, framed by wild dunes and a maritime pine forest. It’s one of the most scenic and peaceful spots on the Lido — perfect for a short break or even a quick swim.

Ferry to Pellestrina
A short ferry ride takes us to Pellestrina, a slender island that feels like another world.

Pellestrina
We’ll cycle through the island’s three pastel-colored fishing villages: San Pietro in Volta, Portosecco, and Pellestrina proper. This peaceful stretch offers unforgettable views and authentic lagoon life.

Murazzi Sea Walls
Our ride continues along the Murazzi — massive 18th-century sea defenses built from Istrian stone, following the Adriatic shoreline. A wild and beautiful stretch of road where land meets sea.

Optional Extension to Chioggia
Want to keep going? You can choose to extend the ride to Chioggia — “Little Venice” — with its canals, churches, and seafood market. Or return the way we came, catching a ferry back to Lido with sweeping views over the lagoon and St. Mark’s.
