Explore the northern Venetian Lagoon on two wheels with a local nature guide and discover the wild side of Venice. This unique tour takes you to Lio Piccolo, a tranquil paradise home to hundreds of bird species — including flamingos!
Ride along scenic lagoon paths, past fishing valleys and sandbanks, as you learn about the ecology and wildlife of this fragile ecosystem. This experience is ideal for birdwatchers, nature lovers, photographers, and anyone seeking an off-the-beaten-path adventure. Bikes (city bike, tandem or e-bike) will be ready for you at the starting point.

Itinerary

Meeting Point in Venice – Riva degli Schiavoni

We’ll meet near San Marco and take a scenic waterbus ride through the northern lagoon to Punta Sabbioni (vaporetto ticket not included)

 

Bike Pick-up in Punta Sabbion

Once there, you’ll choose your preferred bike (city bike, tandem, or e-bike). Bikes will be pre-booked and ready for you.

Birdwatching in Lio Piccolo

We’ll cycle through the peaceful landscapes of Lio Piccolo, a birdwatching haven with mudflats, salt marshes and “valli da pesca”. Flamingos and over 300 species of birds can be spotted here throughout the year.

Cycling through Fishing Valleys and Nature Reserves

Enjoy breathtaking views of canals, wetlands, sandbanks, and vegetable patches, with the Venice skyline in the background. We’ll stop often for photos, stories, and birdwatching.

 

Guided by a Nature & Interpretive Guide

Your expert guide will share insights into the lagoon’s unique ecosystem, the history of the area, and help you spot the most interesting specie

 

Return to Venice

After the ride, we’ll take the waterbus back to Venice, full of beautiful memories and great photos.

The tour can be in a shared small-group tour and limited to 10 participants max.

Child bikes available, please inform us in advance. Infant seats are not available.

How long does the tour last?
The tour lasts about 4 hours, including the boat ride to reach the starting point and the bike ride itself.

Where is the meeting point?
We will meet at Riva degli Schiavoni, near San Marco, and take the waterbus together to Punta Sabbioni, where our bikes will be ready.

Is the bike rental included?
Yes, standard city bike rental is included. Tandem bikes or e-bikes may be available upon request for an extra cost.

Do I need to be an experienced cyclist?
No! The tour is easy and suitable for everyone who can ride a bike. The route is mostly flat and quiet, ideal for a relaxed ride.

Can I bring children?
Yes! Children are welcome, and child seats or smaller bikes can be arranged with advance notice.

Will we definitely see flamingos?
Flamingos are often spotted in the lagoon year-round, but they are wild animals, so sightings can’t be guaranteed. However, we’ll explore areas where they are commonly seen.

What should I bring with me?
We recommend comfortable clothes, sunscreen, water, and binoculars if you have them. The guide will bring a birdwatching scope.

Is the tour private or in a group?
