Description
Don’t just eat like a tourist — live like a Venetian! Join a local for a one-of-a-kind culinary experience that starts at the bustling Rialto fish market and ends in a home kitchen on the island of Murano.
Your journey begins at the historic Rialto Market, where for over 800 years Venetians have come to shop for the freshest seafood. Walk through the lively Pescheria, where fishmongers call out the daily catch and seagulls hover over ice-covered stalls. Together with your host, you’ll select the best seasonal fish to cook later in the day.
From the market, you’ll cross the Grand Canal the local way — on a traditional gondola ferry — then walk through quiet backstreets to reach the Fondamente Nove. A short vaporetto ride brings you to Murano, where your host’s home and kitchen await.
Here, overlooking a peaceful canal, you’ll prepare a full seafood meal: pasta with a flavorful fish sauce and oven-baked sea bass, accompanied by prosecco and small bites. Along the way, your host will share tips, stories, and local culinary secrets in a relaxed, friendly setting.
You’ll end your Venetian cooking experience with an authentic espresso brewed in a traditional moka pot — just like at home in Italy.
Perfect for food lovers, market enthusiasts, and curious travelers, this is an unforgettable way to experience Venice like a local: through its food, people, and traditions.
Itinerary
Rialto Fish Market: Where It All Begins
We’ll meet at the historic Rialto Fish Market, one of Venice’s most authentic spots. Wander among stalls piled high with fresh seafood on crushed ice, listen to fishmongers calling out their daily catch, and choose the best fish to cook later.
Gondola Ferry Across the Grand Canal
Next, cross the Grand Canal just like local Venetians do—aboard a traditional gondola ferry. It’s a quick but unforgettable way to experience Venice from the water.
Hidden Streets Walk to Murano
Stroll through the quiet “calles” and fondamente of Cannaregio—one of the city’s largest, most residential districts—away from the tourist crowds. From Fondamente Nove, catch a vaporetto to Murano.
Home Cooking Class in Murano
Arrive at a private Venetian home overlooking a peaceful canal, where you’ll prepare a full seafood lunch together:

First Course: Spaghetti alla Busara (spaghetti with stewed crayfish and tomato)
Second Course: Oven-baked sea bass with potatoes and aromatic herbs
Finish: Italian moka-brewed coffee and local liqueurs
Optional: Continue Exploring Murano & Burano
